Sandpatch and Southern M-2 2-8-4 Redraw

The Granite Street Boiler Works is highly regarded among railroads everywhere for their high quality steam locomotives. The Sandpatch and Southern is no exception. Many of these engines grace the rails of the SP&S daily, pulling such name trains as Westward Ho (formerly "Westward Limited"), and Fireball Express. Though these name trains are a important part of the SP&S, we rely primarily on fast freight.

The first 25 2-8-4s (which includes the 1511) were built by Baldwin. After consulting the GSBW, the SP&S ordered another batch of 2-8-4s, mainly for Time Freight Service. Upon arrival, these engines were rebuilt to the SP&S cosmetic liking (Save 4, which were kept as they were for passenger service), and the SP&S logos were added, and given the numbers 1526-1550. They are well liked among crews and railfans alike.
